As of the last report Tuesday night, the Big Draw Fire is 10 percent contained. Utah Fire Info shared that it had been mapped at 457 acres and there was minimal growth still with no threat to structures. This is great news as it had been recommended to residents of 8 to 10 homes north of 11000 North in Neola to consider evacuating late Monday evening due to potential for fire spread. Over 20 people chose to voluntarily evacuate. Thankfully, within a few hours the high winds died down and most of the residents who chose to evacuate returned to their homes. On Tuesday, the fire was “staffed by multiple engine crews, one hotshot crew, one Type II initial attack crew, a dozer and two helicopters,” shares Utah Fire Info. “The same firefighting resources will be supplemented [Wednesday] by two more Type II initial attack crews. They will continue to build and reinforce containment lines, using direct attack actions to further protect structures in Neola along the 11000 North Road and to the north of the road.” The Big Draw Fire was reported at 3:55pm on Monday. The cause is still under investigation.
