The Bench Trial is scheduled to begin today for a Myton man charged for involvement in January 6th acts. According to the brief on Justice.gov, video footage shows 30-year-old Odin Meacham of Myton on the west side of the Capitol building attempting to pull a bike rack away from officers using the rack to maintain the police line before striking an officer on the upper body with a large wooden pole. About 5 minutes later, video allegedly shows Meacham picking up a black metal pole from the ground and throwing it at and hitting a police officer. Finally, footage shows Meacham attempting to take possession of an officer’s baton but was unsuccessful. Meacham has entered not guilty pleas to the charges against him, including multiple counts of assault with a deadly or dangerous weapon.
