Meet The Candidates: Troy Slaugh For Uintah County Commissioner

by | Jun 13, 2024 | News | 0 comments

Troy Slaugh, candidate for Uintah County Commission Seat B, recently visited the Evans Family Media studios for an interview. Slaugh is a lifelong Uintah County resident and a retired Uintah County Sheriff’s deputy. He is not on the primary ballot because he is running as an unaffiliated candidate. Slaugh changed his status from Republican due to being disillusioned by the parties on a national level and because of his experience running for Commissioner in the past with the vote being split on the primary ballot. He believes it’s best if people have a choice on the November ballot. Slaugh shared that he sees taxation as among the biggest issues in Uintah County after the proposed property increase last fall and the approved tax increase just a few weeks ago. He believes the Commissioners need to be more open and transparent when it comes to any proposed tax increase, stating that the job of a Commissioner is to over communicate, listen, explain, and take feedback before any decisions are made. He also said he’s an advocate for utilizing ClearGov software in the county to make the numbers transparent and available at all times.
