Two local projects are in the process of receiving Clean Water Act Certification through the EPA and public comment is now being accepted. The Environmental Protection Agency published each notice on Wednesday, June 5th. The first project is a proposal from Moon Lake Electric Association to remove Yellowstone Dam, abutments, intake structure, and associated facilities, penstock, and fishing dock to restore the Yellowstone River through the reach previously occupied by the dam and reservoir. Yellowstone Dam consists of a 15 foot high, 313 foot long timber, rock and steel composite impoundment for the small 3.8 acre reservoir. The second project is a proposal from Middle Fork Energy Uinta within the Uintah and Ouray Reservation in the area 15 miles southeast of Vernal. The project would construct one well pad, two access roads, one 1.45 mile long powerline, and one pipeline corridor that would impact Baser Wash and other washes.
