A man was tracked down and arrested last week after he and the woman he was with opted for the 5-finger discount while shopping at Cal-Ranch in Vernal. The door theft alarm was set off when the couple left the store and video footage provided to the investigating officers was able to identify 28-year-old Dylan Lane McCrorey as the male suspect. The footage showed the pair trying to avoid cameras as items were put in his pockets. McCrorey was located by officers at Sportsman’s Warehouse where he gave them a false name and date of birth. Once his true identity was confirmed, McCrorey was arrested for providing false personal information and it was found that he had multiple active warrants for his arrest. The stolen items were located in the vehicle he had traveled there in. Because he has had multiple theft convictions in Utah as well as other states, he was charged with 3rd Degree Felony Retail Theft.
