The Ute boys baseball team hosted the regional match with the Green Canyon Wolves last Friday and Saturday to start the 4A state tournament.
The Wolves scored first on Friday, then the Utes got that back in the third inning, then Angel Rios stroked a two ribby double as part of a three run fifth inning. Shea Sheffield crushed an insurance home run over the center field fence as the Utes won the first game 5-1.
On Saturday the Utes scored two in the first, but the Wolves came back with four. In the fifth and sixth innings, the Ute bats came to life scoring five runs each inning for the 14-4 victory. Eight Utes had RBIs with Jaron Colton hitting a home run and a double in the win.
The Utes head to St. George to take on the Desert Hills Thunder Thursday and Friday in the Super Regionals.
