A Uintah County man with a need for speed was arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail on Thursday for exhibition driving and reckless driving on Highway 40. 26-year-old Jason Alexander Jones has a history of running from police and reaching speeds of over 150 miles per hour. On April 19th, Jones fled from a Utah Highway Patrol trooper attempting to pull him over. The trooper gave up the chase for public safety after the car continued to create distance even at the excessive speeds. Investigative work revealed that the car in question has a history of fleeing from police and that it belonged to Jones who was known to work at Walmart. Jones denied any involvement in Thursday’s chase, claiming he was home all day. Thanks to surveillance video, the officer was able to prove that in fact Jones had been in Dinosaur, Colorado that day at a cannabis store in the logical timeframe before the chase on Highway 40 in Uintah County. Jones’ arrest is the 3rd time in recent years he has been caught fleeing from officers at high speeds.
