A project that will improve safety for kids traveling to and from neighborhoods south of Discovery Elementary is moving along. The Discovery Access Trail runs from behind Discovery Elementary to 1500 South in Uintah County and the final phase of the project is out to bid.
The project was split into 3 phases: Phase 1 paved the trail. Phase 2 included concrete work along 1500 South and into Quailbrook subdivision and Phase 3 is fencing. A pedestrian actuated LED crossing sign is also part of the project on 1500 South at the trail entrance.
Vernal City received grant funding to complete this project. Vernal City is now seeking proposals from contractors to install the 4-foot tall split rail fence that will run alongside the newly installed Discovery Access Trail. The fence will tie into existing fence at 1500 South, northeast of Quailbrook Subdivision, and will run parallel to the asphalt trail on the southern property line of Discovery Elementary.
The bid deadline is April 26th.
