Plans are in place for the Bureau of Land Management to update their Dinosaur North Plan in 2025 which could potentially close 208 miles of OHV trails in Uintah County. In 2023, the BLM closed 317 miles of OHV trails west of Moab in Grand County as part of their Labyrinth Canyon and Gemini Bridges travel management plan. Closures there included a river access road as well as several world famous Jeep safari routes including the Hey Joe Mine Road. Similar actions are being taken in Emery, San Juan and Sevier Counties and, according to Clay Crozer, legal counsel for the Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office, the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) also has their sites set on Uintah and Duchesne Counties. It’s anticipated the Dinosaur North Plan will be first, followed by the Book Cliffs and 9 Mile Canyon in Duchesne County. There will be a public comment period when the draft plan is submitted. Evans Family Media will provide updates when they become available, including when the public comment period is scheduled.
