Vernal City has issued a challenge for the community to keep properties cleaned up by keeping the City’s code. ‘Project Code Campaign’ will share messages with the public in order to educate the community. One of the main ways a code officer is alerted to a problem is from a complaint. The first step after receiving a complaint is an inspection. The second step is a letter being sent to the property owner. This usually resolves the issue but occasionally the problem continues and up to 3 letters are sent before legal proceedings result. Sharing about ‘Project Code Campaign’, Assistant Vernal City Manager Gabby Blackburn said the messages to the public will remain upbeat and focus on taking pride in the community. A well maintained property has an increased value by up to 30 percent and experiences a reduction in crime by 29 percent. Watch for messages from Vernal City as part of ‘Project Code Campaign’.
