It’s the time of year for agricultural burning but already there have been several fires as burns have gotten away and required help from local fire departments. The Lapoint-Tridell Fire Department has a straightforward message for those planning to burn: “As outdoor activities increase, remember the risks of burning during windy conditions. Wind can quickly spread fires, endangering lives and property. Prioritize safety by avoiding burning on windy days and ensuring proper precautions are taken. Spread the word and stay safe!” Uintah Fire District burn requirements state that for agricultural burning no burn permit is required through the month of May but you are still required to call dispatch to inform them of the plan to burn. Starting June 1st a burn permit is required for agricultural burning. The Uintah Fire District website shows that spring burning for yard cleanup does not open until March 30th. In city limits, a burn permit for yard cleanup is always required and you must always notify dispatch. Outside of municipalities in Uintah County the burn permit is not required during the spring but you still must notify dispatch.
