Vernal City Chief Of Police Retires; City Council Approves New Chief

A big change has taken place in the Vernal City Police Department. Vernal City shared this week that “after 29 years of dedicated service and commitment to the Vernal City Police Department, Dylan Rooks is retiring and bidding farewell to his esteemed career in law enforcement and as the Vernal City Chief of Police.” City Manager Quinn Bennion presented to the Vernal City Council last Wednesday, sharing that after a thorough search process of 4 internal candidates, Sgt. Michael Gledhill was recommended for appointment as the next Vernal City Police Chief. Vernal City Council approved Sgt. Gledhill as the new police Chief. Sgt. Gledhill is an 18-year officer. A celebration of Chief Dylan Rooks and his retirement is taking place on March 14th from 1 to 3pm in the Vernal Community Room at City Hall.
