The draft of the Duchesne County Transportation Master Plan is now available to view as public meetings to review the plan approach. The 100 page plan, prepared by Jones & DeMille Engineering, explores a variety of transportation modes and focuses on the future safety, mobility, and access management of Duchesne County, among other concerns. The plan offers further insight into the need for the study by stating, “Duchesne County’s population continues to increase with no apparent slowdown in the future. Along with anticipated growth comes an increase in traffic. Ongoing growth and development in the County is creating an increase in traffic demands on this roadway network that are not easily accommodated.” The plan also explains that the County’s ability to construct roads is constrained due to lack of funding and that the majority of the budget for County roads and bridges is used for maintenance and repair of existing roads. The draft of the Transportation Master Plan is available to view on www.duchesne.utah.gov. A public hearing for the final recommendation from the County Planning Commission is scheduled for September 6th.
