A suspicious incident at the Vernal City Park had citizens on high alert on Thursday after witnesses reported that they had observed what appeared to be a child abduction attempt. Vernal Police immediately responded and began an investigation into the incident. Vernal PD announced the next day on March 1st: “After an extensive investigation it was determined that the incident observed was misinterpreted and was found to be an interaction between some children in the park. The Vernal Police Department wants to thank witnesses for their concern and for notifying Law Enforcement.” The statement from Vernal PD emphasized that “there are no threats to the public stemming from this incident” and thanked the community for keeping Vernal a great place to live.
