A Vernal man was arrested last week after police were called to perform a welfare check at a residence. According to the KSL report, officers responded and found a man with visible injuries, including a cut across his ear and head, allegedly caused by a Katana sword. The police investigation concluded that Tyler Shurtleff had started the fight as he admitted that he put the other man in a chokehold and dragged him outside. The fight also resulted in physical injury from the sword. Shurtleff was arrested and booked on the offense of unlawful force.
