Duchesne County Community Development Assistant Director Mike Gottfredson
presented on trails and a special project during a January Duchesne County Commission
meeting. Over $132,000 dollars in State grant funds have been received to develop and
maintain OHV trails, including the development of the Yellowstone OHV trail network,
mapping three OHV routes on BLM land, and creating a new OHV trail connection in
Sower’s Canyon, as well as other needs. Gottfredson shared that one of the Trail
Committee’s goals is for Duchesne County to become a destination for outdoor
recreation. One project that will certainly help with that is being called ‘Teddy’s
Playground’. Gottfredson presented the mountain bike trail map and parking lot design
for Teddy’s Playground to the Commissioners with the plan to develop 120 acres of land
on Bluebell Road as a mountain bike/disc golf course. The request made to the
Commissioners was for a donation of rock material for the parking lot.
