A very special officer with the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has retired from service. The Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday that K9 Riddick has retired after nearly 7 years of service in Uintah County with his partner, Deputy Amy Leishman. “During that time, Riddick responded to over 400 calls for service, including sniffs for illegal narcotics, human tracking, and building clearing, resulting in hundreds of arrests,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Riddick has assisted the Vernal City Police Department, Naples Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol, Adult Probation & Parole, The United States Marshal Service, and others. Riddick has also participated in many public relations events and demonstrations. In 2019, Riddick and Deputy Leishman had the opportunity to participate in the TV Show America’s Top Dog, which aired on TV in January 2020.” Riddick will continue to live with Deputy Leishman during retirement.
