We all know about death and taxes but it would be safe to say we can also add scam calls to that list of unavoidable things. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office is the latest to remind the public to beware of callers claiming to be law enforcement and instructing you to send money or gift cards. “Typically these types of scammers will share a confusing story with the victim about how arrest warrants are being completed, or about a missed court date and claim that the victim needs to go to a bank and get money,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “THIS IS A SCAM! If you answer this call, please do not give out your personal information or give this person money or gift cards. Hang up and call [law enforcement] directly…” If you believe you have been a victim to a scammer, contact your local law enforcement agency to report it.
