January 8th was the final day to file for public office in Utah but that is not actually the case for citizens unaffiliated to a political party. Uintah County Clerk/Auditor Mike Wilkins clarified to Evans Family Media that the deadline for filing as an unaffiliated candidate is March 5th. The process required is that an unaffiliated candidate must gather 300 verifiable registered voter signatures and submit them to the county clerk prior to filing.
