After a broad search, Uintah High School has a new head football coach. Fransisco Llanos was selected after a search that brought a pool of candidates from across the country. Llanos played Division I football at the University of Southern Mississippi and eventually moved to coaching on a college level in Mississippi. In February 2021, Llanos became the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator at Minot State University in North Dakota. Then he spent time with the New York Jets, coaching wide receivers and special teams players as part of the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, before joining the coaching staff at Utah State University in 2022 as an offensive analyst working with the Aggies’ wide receivers. Llanos is currently a P.E. specialist in the Logan School District and served as the wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator for the Logan High Grizzlies last season. As the new head coach of the Utes, Llanos said one of his first priorities will be to meet individually with each player. “If we’re going to be successful, it has to start with believing,” he says. “The players have to believe in me, in the coaching staff, and in each other. I want to get to know my kids, to be transparent and vulnerable with them. They have to know that I care about them first before we get into any of the football stuff.” The Uintah School Board approved Llanos hiring during their Wednesday board meeting.
