The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office recognized the dedicated service of the Duchesne County Search and Rescue team this month, calling the volunteers the “community’s best of the best.” Duchesne County Search and Rescue was called out on 17 different searches in 2023 totaling 547.25 hours spent away from their families to help others in need. They work hard to train and improve their search and rescue skills and knowledge. They offered 9 trainings throughout the year ranging from avalanche, snowmobiles, rope rescues, and compass training to name a few. An appreciation dinner was recently held to wrap up the 2023 season. Service Awards received were Toby Cook, Dustin Webb, and Morgan Larsen, each for 5 years of service, and Everett Schurger for 15 years of service. Norm Larsen, Jason Bleazard, Ken Moon and Brent Gillman each received special appreciation awards for their outstanding service.
