An erratic driver on Highway 40 in the early morning hours of January 8th is now behind bars and facing a list of charges. According to a press release from the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, Duchesne County Deputy Tim Davis was patrolling the area of Bridgeland and Highway 40 at approximately 2am when he noticed semi-trucks flashing headlights at a vehicle in front of them. The vehicle, a GMC Yukon, was heading westbound on Highway 40 while driving “radical and crazy”, swerving into the eastbound lanes into oncoming traffic. “Deputy Davis was able to position the GMC back to the westbound lanes where he then initiated the traffic stop,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “The driver of the Yukon, a 49-year-old male from Park City, was not able to produce a valid Utah State drivers’ license…Once the driver of the Yukon was secured in the patrol car, a search of the vehicle produced three baggies of drugs. Two of the three bags with white crystal-like substance inside weighed in at 3.9 ounces. The 49-year-old male was transported to the Duchesne County Jail on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, a 2nd degree felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana, Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both class B misdemeanors and other traffic related infractions.” In the Probable Cause Statement, Deputy Davis asks the judge to not offer bail due to substantial evidence that the suspect is likely to flee the jurisdiction. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is actively pursuing drugs throughout the county in an effort to make Duchesne County safe for everyone.  At this time, there is no further danger to the public from this individual. The Sheriff’s Office urges all citizens to remember to be vigilant and careful. If you see any suspicious activity, please call Central Dispatch at 435-738-2424.
