Uintah High School had a special visitor on Tuesday. Sydnee Dickson, Utah State Superintendent of Public Instruction, made the trip to Vernal specifically to visit Uintah High business teacher Kami Elison because Elison has been named as one of the five finalists for Teacher of the Year. The recognition is not the first for Elison this year. In June, she received a Best in State award for her student’s performance on the Business Communications 1 exam. It was the second time Elison received the award. Last year, she was also recognized for her students’ test scores in Business Management and Business Communications 2. Uintah School District has also recognized Kami Elison for the dynamic educator that she is, having named her the 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year for the District. State Superintendent Dickson visited one of Elison’s classes during which senior Kyler Martinsen was able to present about his fishing equipment business K-Rods which he started thanks to the encouragement of Ms. Elison. It was a positive experience for all.
