Uintah School District was among school districts in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming on Friday that received a generic hoax email claiming there were explosives inside each of the District’s schools. No specific school or district was named in the email and all the districts affected received the same email in a 24 hour time span. Uintah School District distributed information to the community on the morning of December 15th stating that they were in contact with local law enforcement and were being extra vigilant but that school would stay in session as the threat in the email was found to be unsubstantiated. The Utah Department of Public Safety released a statement about the bomb threat emails also stating that the threats were determined to be hoaxes. The statement included the following: “DPS is actively collaborating with local law enforcement agencies to conduct comprehensive investigations into these incidents. Our top priority is ensuring the safety and security of our educational institutions and the communities they serve. The safety of our students and school staff is of utmost importance. We want to reassure parents, students, and educators that appropriate measures are being taken to address these threats.”
