Woman Charged With Manslaughter in Craig Shooting Death

A woman has been charged in a shooting last week in Craig that resulted in the victim’s death. Rachel Neimeyer was charged last week with domestic violence and assault following the shooting death of Michael Freese. The incident reportedly took place at the Bear Valley Inn in Craig
on Wednesday night
. Freese was transported to the hospital but died on Thursday. This week Niemeyer was also charged with felony manslaughter in connection with the case. The Craig Daily Press reports that Neimeyer is Freese’s wife and Neimeyer told officers that the pair had been drinking heavily and “messing around” with a rifle that they thought was unloaded. Neimeyer also told officers they may have gotten into an argument as well.
