Things went from bad to worse on Friday when officers were called to handle an intoxicated individual at the 7-Eleven Convenience Store on 500 East Main Street in Vernal. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 25-year-old Lane Bow Hunt was intoxicated and standing in front of people’s vehicles and yelling at military service members before heading south on 500 East. Officers made contact with Hunt at the entrance to TriCounty Health Department and after speaking with him and assessing his condition, he was placed under arrest. Hunt became non-compliant and in the process grabbed the officer by the throat and kicked or headbutted 3 other officers and 1 Military service member in uniform who had all come to the aid of the arresting officer. During transport, Hunt issued threats to the officers, including that he would take a gun and blast them in the head. After all was said and done, Hunt was booked on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Intoxication, Interference with an Arresting Officer, Aggravated Assault, 5 counts of Assault on a Peace Officer or Military Service Member in Uniform, Threat of Violence, and Unlawful Purchase. He is scheduled for appearance in 8th District Court on November 13th.
