The law caught up to a Uintah County man with statewide warrants last week when police were called after he was seen allegedly beating and holding down a 15-year-old female victim. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 22-year-old Keagan Lee Mcdonald Knowles was arrested on October 19th for Child Abuse with Injury, Unlawful Detention of a Minor, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Officers received a complaint that a male was following a female and the female was bleeding from the face. Officers responded and located Knowles who ran from police and ditched drug paraphernalia during the foot pursuit. Knowles was caught and taken to Uintah County Jail and then to the ER to receive medical clearance because he informed jail staff that he had recently used fentanyl and methamphetamine. Knowles told police that the incident started because the victim, who he said he was dating, wanted to leave after finding out about possible drug use but he did not want the victim to leave. While he tried to stop her, a random man showed up and separated him from the victim. A witness statement said that Knowles had slammed the victim into a car and drug her down to the ground where he held her down for about 20 seconds before the man threw Knowles off the victim who then ran away. Knowles had begun chasing after the victim again when police arrived and he gave up his pursuit to run from police. Knowles made his initial appearance in 8th District Court on October 24th. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for November 7th and Knowles was remanded to the custody of the Uintah County Jail. At the time of his arrest, Knowles had Statewide Warrants for charges including possession, manufacturing, and distribution of drugs.
