BLM Conducting Pariette Wetlands Prescribed Burn

The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has scheduled a Pariette Prescribed Fire in Uintah County this week though it does depend on the weather’s cooperation. “The project is in the southern part of Uintah County just Southwest of Ouray and Pelican Lake. The BLM Fire program plans to conduct a controlled burn of the middle and southeast portion of Pariette Wetlands. This will be part of the annual burn schedule consisting of both spring and fall burns.” This project aims to keep the impoundments free of cattails and other vegetation to maintain 50 percent or more open water for waterfowl. During ignition, parts of the wetlands will be closed to the public for safety reasons. For questions about the Fuels Program, reach out to Manager Hank Barela at 435-781-2741.
