Give’m Health: Holiday Health Tips And Turkey Shortage

by | Oct 18, 2023 | News | 0 comments

TriCounty Health Environmental Health Director Darrin Brown visited the Evans Family Media studios this week with tips for the upcoming holidays as part of this week’s Give’m Health message. When out for Halloween be sure to watch for traffic, dress warm, and be cautious about homemade items. While Thanksgiving may not be on your radar yet, that might need to change if you’re planning on cooking a delicious turkey for your celebration. Brown shared that the Avian Flu has hit Sanpete County hard and one of the main turkey farms had to put down 142,000 turkeys because they had the bird flu. He expects it will affect the amount of turkeys available and will likely affect the cost as well, so buy your turkey early! On the big day be sure to thaw the turkey days in advance, cook it to 165 degrees and refrigerate leftovers.
