For the third time since 2019, the Duchesne County Library has been recognized by the Utah State Library Division with the Quality Library Award. Duchesne County Library System Director Daniel Mauchley was able to attend the annual Utah Library Directors Summit in Salt Lake City to accept the award that was presented to just 16 libraries in the state of Utah each that serve populations of less than 50,000. The Quality Utah Reward recognizes efforts beyond annual re-certification requirements in areas of library outreach, providing patron access to resources outside of the library’s own collection, and collaborative efforts with other community entities. “For Duchesne County Library, outreach services included providing weekly offsite service at the Altamont Moon Lake Electric Building each Tuesday evening and at Tabiona Community Center each Wednesday evening,” explains Mauchley. “The Big G Store in Fruitland opened in July 2023 as another weekly offsite location on Wednesday evenings. Patrons in those areas can also drop off library materials at drop boxes found at Upper County Market in Altamont, Tabiona School, and The Big G in Fruitland. The library partners with the Aging Bus service provided by the Uintah Basin Association of Governments to empty the boxes and return the items to the library.” Congratulations to all involved with the Duchesne County Library System on the well deserved award!
