Hunting season is in full swing and the general season rifle deer hunt is coming up October 21st. In just the last 6 weeks, DWR conservation officers have already issued 500 citations, including 173 illegally killed animals. DWR Captain Chad Bettridge has a clear message for all those participating in hunts now or in the future. “Hunters need to take responsibility for knowing the law,” says Bettridge, “having a current hunting or combination license and also knowing what species and areas their permits allow them to hunt before they go out into the field.”
