It’s been more than two decades since 9/11. The 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance was created to commemorate the sacrifices made that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others performed acts of service to help their fellowman and to defend our nation’s freedom. Americans of all ages and backgrounds are again invited to join and lead community service projects to honor the lives and service of those lost on September 11th, 2001. There are four projects planned in the Vernal area that the community can come take part in. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and rakes to each project. The first project will take place on Tuesday, September 5th and Wednesday, September 6th at the Remember the Maine Park at 5pm. The three other projects are all happening on Saturday, September 9th. The first one is at Naples City Park from 8 to 10am with patriotic activities planned for children 8 to 11 years old. The next project is at Freestone Walking Park at 8:30am and volunteers are asked to bring pruning shears. The final project is at 9am at Jensen Park. To participate in any project, youth under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
