It was a wild night in Roosevelt when the Ute Football team took on the Union Cougars in the Basin Bowl.
The Utes led throughout the first half, then the Cougs tied it in the third, then the Utes regained the lead late in the third. Then Union scored with 5 minutes left in the fourth to whittle the Utes lead to one and scored again with 28 seconds to go in the game converting the 2-point run to take a late lead. The Utes countered with a touchdown with one second left and a Dauthan Flores PAT tied the game at 38, forcing overtime.
The Cougars scored on a 9-yard run by Gannon Labrum on their overtime possession then Labrum scored the extra 2 points on a run. The Utes also scored on their overtime possession with a 25 yard pass from J D Pickup to Jed Vanderwalk, but the Utes run failed, giving the Cougars the 46-44 OT victory.
The Utes host Spanish Fork Friday.
