Vernal City Council recently discussed the availability of UDOT funding for a few items. First, Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion reminded the Council during the Council meeting earlier this month that the City has funding from UDOT to upgrade Vernal Avenue downtown. Originally, the City wanted to implement the improvements from 100 North to 200 South but UDOT will not allow any changes on Vernal Avenue from Main Street to 100 North. The improvements then are going to be focused on the stretch from Main Street to 200 South and include additions to slow traffic such as trees, decorative lights, and mid-block pedestrian crossings. In a separate agenda item, Vernal City Council also discussed an agreement with UDOT for funding to study the traffic patterns on the east quadrant of Vernal City along Highway 40. The study is needed because of the potential of developers adding 1000 residents in that area. The Council approved the agreement.
