Monarch Butterflies are amazing insects that travel more than 3000 miles in a year and Utah is luckily on their migration route. Dinosaur National Monument is hosting two opportunities to learn about the amazing Monarch Butterfly and what you can do in your own backyard to help these beautiful creatures. People will learn about the life cycle and migration journey or Monarch Butterflies, the importance of milkweed and nectar plants, and how tagging and monitoring contributes to Monarch conservation efforts from Canada to Mexico. The first event will take place on Friday, August 18th from 7 to 7:30 pm at the Green River Campground. The second event will be on Saturday, August 19th from 8:30 to 10am at Josie’s Cabin. While the events are free the standard entrance fee of $25 per vehicle to get into the Monument still applies. Parking at the end of the Cub Creek Road at Josie’s Cabin is limited, so please carpool if you can. There is space for non-campers at the Green River Campground near site B-22. There will be both English and Spanish language options at both events.
