The Uintah County Commission approved signatures for an MOU between the Uintah County Library and the State Library during the most recent Commission meeting. Uintah County Library Director Sam Passey shared details with the Commission explaining that the State Library puts forth the MOU to all the public libraries in Utah to participate in a statewide e-book/audiobook group. Passey reported that last year the Uintah County Library checked out over 76,000 e-books/audiobooks using the service and the demand continues to grow. He noted that physical checkouts at the library are about 250,000 a year. The cost to participate with the statewide group is $8,675 dollars for the year and that gets access to $700,000 dollars of content. Passey said the cost will be part of the library’s regular budget and it is due in January. The Commission gave authorization for the signature on the MOU.
