Utah Wildlife Walls has a mural unveiling coming up on Vernal’s Main Street during a popular local event. The project is a collaboration between the Utah Wildlife Federation, artist Chris Peterson, and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources with the goal of creating public artwork that highlights local wildlife in each of Utah’s 29 Counties. The first mural was completed last fall in Salt Lake City and the mural in Vernal being dedicated on August 26th will make Uintah County the 2nd county with a mural for the project. In the words or mural artist Chris Peterson, “Wildlife is part of the fabric of our Utah culture, and we are hoping to explore what that means by partnering with communities across the state to highlight local species with at least one custom mural and wildlife celebration event in each of Utah’s 29 counties.” At the event on August 26th at 6:30pm, guest speakers will make a presentation at Vernal Theatre: Live followed by the unveiling of the mural of a Colorado River cutthroat trout on the side of the building at 74 East Main Street in Vernal at 7:30pm. This event is taking place during the fun evening event on Main Street with the Dinah ‘SOAR’ Days Balloon Festival. There will be fly-casting demonstrations, wooden fish painting, and other activities.
