The Uintah County Commission meeting on Tuesday received reports on events going on in Uintah County and there was plenty to share. A report was given on the team roping event held over the weekend at the Western Park. Organizers had hoped for 300 teams to make it a success and they had just under 1100 teams participate. The two day event impacted restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and more, which was a common theme among all the event reports. The team roping event is already booked again for next year and they are exploring the option of extending it into the second arena. The three day John Wesley Powell Riverfest was also held over the weekend with great music, cornhole, and the popular kids kayak pond. Outlaw’s Lost Treasure Hunt was in conjunction with the festival and part of the weekend’s success. Uintah County Deputy Attorney John Stearmer announced during the Commission meeting that the official broadway musical about the life of John Wesley Powell is on schedule to debut through Outlaw Trail Theater next year which will add even more to next year’s event.
