For those who love their bikes but can’t make it to Sturgis a smaller event may get the chance to come to the region. Initially, the Green River City Council in Wyoming made their non-support clear of the ‘Too Broke For Sturgis’ event aimed to happen this weekend. Sweetwater Now reported on the discussion from the July City Council meeting in which Councilman Gary Killpack was straightforward about his worries of how a bike rally and connotations of the term “Sturgis” would impact Green River and that it is not wanted in the community. Concerns were also laid out about security and the town’s ability to accommodate large numbers of participants. The Council meets again today to consider one last time the issuance of open container permits requested for what is now listed as the ‘Buck N Badass Rally’ event. A Sweetwater Now report suggests that the rebranded event, which promises much lower numbers of attendees and which organizers will provide sufficient security for, is expected to now receive the Council’s support.
