The weather helped keep fire activity low on the Monument Fire on Tuesday. According to the ‘Utah Fire Info’ Tuesday evening report, the fire is 80 percent contained and there was no increase in acreage reported. “The area received light rain [Tuesday],” shares the report. “Cloud cover and higher relative humidity kept fire activity low, which helped crews working on the line. On Wednesday, firefighters will further improve the line and mop up any remaining hotspots with the goal of fully containing the Monument Fire.” Fire officials decided to move some crews and equipment to other active incidents with the increase in containment. The Monument Fire was caused by lightning and was reported on Saturday, July 22nd, just after 3:30pm. The fire is located about 55 miles southeast of Vernal in the Book Cliffs near Monument Ridge Road.
