A local Girl Scout Troop is using their cookie sales money for more than just their annual events and activities. Troop 256 found a way to also give back to the community in a very important way. “The girls, led by troop leaders Krista, Dorriane, Jessica and Erica, wanted to give back to the community by supporting an important program that provides essential services to some of the most vulnerable members of the community. After discussing and researching different charity organizations, they unanimously chose the Vernal City Victim Advocate Program,” shares Vernal City Advocates Director Kim Luttrell. “The troop members presented two hundred dollars from their cookie sales to the Victim Advocates. Troop 256 received a tour of the facility as well as got to meet a K9 unit named Kratos and his handler Officer Randall. The donation will be used to help support the program’s new Mass Casualty program. The program director and staff wish to express their immense appreciation for the girls’ generous donation, remarking that it will make a very large difference.”
