A minor walking down the hallway of the Horizon Hotel in Vernal was forcibly grabbed and raped on Sunday, according to police. 31-year-old Michael J. Grant was arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail on charges of felony Object Rape and two counts of Forcible Sodomy. The Affidavit of Probable Cause states that the 14-year-old victim was walking down the hall when Grant grabbed him by the wrist and pulled the victim into Grant’s room. Once inside the room Grant assaulted the victim. The victim left but was threatened and told to come back after which Grant assaulted the minor again. After police arrived, Grant was booked on the Rape and Forcible Sodomy charges. Because Grant planned to leave town and because the victim’s grandfather had said he wanted to kill Grant, police requested the judge issue a no bail order.
