The latest competitive craze has arrived in Vernal City. The addition of pickleball courts at Independence Park in Vernal was approved a year ago during a Uintah Recreation Special Service District Board meeting and the courts are now open for play. Pickleball is a sport that has been sweeping the country and is known for sucking in even the most unlikely of players. “The community pickleball courts are a great example of collaboration in Uintah County,” shares Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion. “8 entities supported and contributed to the installation of the courts. The Rec District will maintain and operate the courts.” There is the chance for play after dark as lights are being installed and will be turned off nightly by 9pm.
