The Kids In Need 5K and service project was a great success last weekend and their message, that people care and there is love in the world, will continue to be felt loud and clear. Participants in the 5K assembled hundreds of bags with items and snacks that can be given to foster kids and other kids in need. During the planning phase, donations and support came pouring in with volunteers sewing and other donating goods and funds for the project. This wonderful coordinated effort resulted in 36 backpacks delivered to Family Support Center in Roosevelt, 250 bags distributed to Vernal DCFS, 50 backpacks to Duchesne County DCFS, 50 backpacks to Friends Against Family Violence, 100 backpacks to the Ute tribe, 100 backpacks to the Children’s Justice Center, 250 backpacks to Central Cove, and 100 backpacks to Head Start. The wonderful interfaith group, Community of Unity in Christ, sponsored the event.
