Now the real work begins as the exploration of a space for all art forms, education, entertainment, and events continues. In late 2022, a group of locals, all passionate about the arts, formed a non-profit to raise money to conduct a feasibility study for a center to accommodate all genres of performing and visual arts. The non-profit working name is Vernal Arts Center which hired independent theatre consultants, Theatre Projects, to survey community members as well as conduct community focus groups on site in Vernal. Additionally, virtual interviews were conducted throughout the process with key stakeholders and community members. On June 21st, the feasibility study findings from Theatre Projects and Keen Independent Research, were presented to the executive committee. “The data is extensive and needs to be analyzed and vetted with a full board of stakeholders to formulate next steps in the process of bringing a viable multi-use cultural arts venue to Vernal,” shares Robin McClellan, the co-chair of VAC. “The findings show excitement, interest, and needs. The study also points to the need for viable partnerships, an economic impact study, concept and plan design work, funding sources exploration, and ongoing operational support requirements.”
