There have been changes made statewide to the 2023 election cycle due to the need for a special election in Utah’s 2nd Congressional District. On June 6th, Representative Chris Stewart announced his resignation as the Representative for District 2, effective September 15th. As a result, House Bill 2001 mandates the following changes: First, counties will conduct all elections in 2023. Second, City/Town Councils will remain the board of canvassers for municipal elections. Third, the Primary Election (if needed) will be held on Tuesday, September 5th. And fourth, the General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 21st. Odd-numbered years are for municipal elections to elect city and town officials for positions including mayors, council, and district seats. For more information, visit elections.utah.gov
