Vernal Regional Airport Manager Ken Campbell presented during the joint Vernal City/Uintah County meeting last week on the project to expand the airport taxiway. Earlier this year in February, the joint City/County meeting considered the need for expanding areas at the airport for additional hangars, the focus being on 3 different areas to be opened up for hangar development. This month’s City/County meeting focused on the approval of a bid to complete new taxiway Charlie, which will allow for 5 hangars in that area. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion explained to Evans Family Media that hangar spaces are pretty much full from Ogden to Vernal and the Vernal Regional Airport wants to be in a position to welcome those needing hangar space that may not live in the area. The development of taxiways Bravo and Delta are also on the airport’s radar and will mostly be funded by FAA funds. Bennion emphasized that this is about long term development at the airport moving forward.
