Wednesday was a big day for the library thanks to local supporters of literacy. Members of the Literacy Committee of the Vernal Rotary Club delivered nearly $1,200 dollars in books to the Uintah County Library, just in time for the Summer Reading Program. This is something that the Club is a proud sponsor of as literacy is one of the seven guiding principles of Rotarians worldwide. The books come with 4-Way Test Stickers. This test is the code of conduct for Rotarians posing guidelines in making good decisions and has been adopted by Rotary since 1943. This act is one of many things the Club does to promote literacy. The Rotary Club also sponsored $500 dollars in books that were handed out during the holiday season. $6,500 dollars was spent during fiscal year 322-23 on local literacy projects. In addition, $6,700 dollars was awarded in mini-grants by the Vernal Rotary Club Board. If you have ever taken part of one of the Rotary’s fundraisers this is where a portion of those donations go to. Well done Vernal Rotary Club!
