The Golden Age Center will soon have another vehicle to add another route for the local Meals on Wheels program. Uintah County applied for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) on behalf of the Golden Age Center and the application was successful. Uintah County’s Gennie Bird explained to the Uintah County Commission on Tuesday that they were awarded $61,060 dollars towards the purchase of a new 4-wheel-drive truck with temperature controlled food boxes. The total purchase price for the vehicle is $71,060 dollars so the remaining $10,000 dollars will be paid by the Golden Age Center. Tuesday was the 2nd public hearing regarding the CDBG grant but there was no comments from the public. Bird explained that they are adding a 7th route to the Meals on Wheels program that will serve just under 300 individuals, primarily the elderly, in need of meals delivered to their home.
