Vernal Police Department has released the name of the Vernal woman who died in the head on collision on Monday in Vernal. 21-year-old Isabella Giese was killed when the vehicle she was driving drifted into oncoming traffic at about 6:30pm at 895 West Highway 40 in Vernal. According to Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell, neither Giese nor her passenger were wearing seatbelts. Her passenger was transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center and then to the Wasatch Front by air. The driver and passenger of the vehicle that was struck were wearing seatbelts and received minor injuries. Many agencies and officers were called in to help at the scene including Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Kellie Oaks who urges everyone traveling in vehicles to buckle up every time. “I’ve been on many crashes where lives would have been saved if they had been wearing their seatbelt or chose to buckle their child up correctly,” shares Sgt. Oaks. “It is my belief the fatality and critical injuries on the crash Monday night would not have happened if the occupants had been wearing their seatbelts. Seatbelts save lives. Period. Please buckle up.” Evans Family Media extends their condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.
